Coming to an end.

We have a 4-day work week, starting tomorrow. Jack's last day of 3rd grade will be Friday. (I don't want to quit too early, nor do I feel the need to hang on til the 4th, when Savannah has her last day. Those last two days at school are spent cleaning up anyway!). Tomorrow is also Jack's last soccer practice. This will *hopefully* be our last week of homeschooling. (EEK!) This is Savannah's last real week of elementary school! Those are the big things winding down for us, before summer break. I can't believe we've nearly made it!

Jack is now down to 3mg of Intuniv. We have not seen a really drastic change in him (well, my husband thinks he sees it, but I don't). He isn't dramatically more hyper or obnoxious, except for when it comes to touching my face ALL THE TIME. I would say that I've noticed him being more irritable at times, though. For example, if I tell him something that he already knows (or if I remind him about something, or tell him something I may not be aware that he already knows about), he will say "I know! I know! I know!". He says it in that voice that gets progressively higher, too. Ugh.

I have not yet found a new psychiatrist, but I have not taken Jack back to see the "old" one, either. I also need to schedule an annual well-check, but I'm not real fond of the long trek to the pediatrician's office whenever we need to see him, so I'm considering changing doctors. There is a local doctor's office that specializes in Autism and ADHD, but they are not affiliated with any major health plan. This means paying out of pocket, and this definitely puts me off. However, I'm about crazy enough to see them anyway. I can't not have Jack on some form of medication by the time school starts in the Fall. I realize that sounds crazy to some people, and I hardly believe I'm typing that. However seeing how he is on no meds, it just doesn't seem logical. Maybe this doctor's office can offer something of value to Jack that doesn't mean pumping his body full of crap that takes forever to wean him off of, if need be. I don't want my kid to be any more of a guinea pig than he already has been. :(
